The Real Torture April 23, 2009

So the POTUS is throwing the U.S. under the bus again.  By letting this info out regarding water-boarding and possible prosecution of the people involved, he is showing how weak his admin really is.  Nancy Pelosi is in on this as well stating that she was not aware of these techniques and to allow an inquiry.  The Washington Post back in December had an article about Nancy being one of four people who were secretly briefed regarding torture and water-boarding back in 2002.  She had no objections at that time and even inquired if these techniques would be enough.   The below excerpt is from a Charles Krauthhammer article in the Washington post.

Judging by Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress who were informed at the time, the answer seems to be yes. In December 2007, after a report in The Post that she had knowledge of these procedures and did not object, she admitted that she’d been “briefed on interrogation techniques the administration was considering using in the future.”

Today Pelosi protests “we were not — I repeat — were not told that waterboarding or any other of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.” She imagines that this distinction between past and present, Clintonian in its parsing, is exonerating.

The POTUS released this info even while having supporting info from his Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair state that “enhanced interrogation techniques have worked“.

Same info backed up by former CIA director Porter Goss who was in the meetings with the “gang of four”.

A disturbing epidemic of amnesia seems to be plaguing my former colleagues on Capitol Hill. After the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, members of the committees charged with overseeing our nation’s intelligence services had no higher priority than stopping al-Qaeda. In the fall of 2002, while I was chairman of the House intelligence committee, senior members of Congress were briefed on the CIA’s “High Value Terrorist Program,” including the development of “enhanced interrogation techniques” and what those techniques were. This was not a one-time briefing but an ongoing subject with lots of back and forth between those members and the briefers.

Today, I am slack-jawed to read that members claim to have not understood that the techniques on which they were briefed were to actually be employed; or that specific techniques such as “waterboarding” were never mentioned. It must be hard for most Americans of common sense to imagine how a member of Congress can forget being told about the interrogations of Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed. In that case, though, perhaps it is not amnesia but political expedience.

Let me be clear. It is my recollection that:

— The chairs and the ranking minority members of the House and Senate intelligence committees, known as the Gang of Four, were briefed that the CIA was holding and interrogating high-value terrorists.

— We understood what the CIA was doing.

— We gave the CIA our bipartisan support.

— We gave the CIA funding to carry out its activities.

— On a bipartisan basis, we asked if the CIA needed more support from Congress to carry out its mission against al-Qaeda.

I do not recall a single objection from my colleagues. They did not vote to stop authorizing CIA funding.

Seems someone didn’t get the memo.  Anyway, my point to this blog is this.  I am for whatever it takes to ensure that America and it’s people are safe from these savages that call themselves holy warriors!  They would do much worse to us then we would to them!  For anybody who is a supporter of the extremist ideology I recommended you view this video link.  This is what real torture looks like!  Please DO NOT VIEW THIS video if you are not of strong body and mind.  This is a very frightening and extremely violent video.  These are the people that we are trying to get info from to protect ourselves.  If this is how they treat their own people think of how they would treat you, me or anybody that does not think like them.  Remember, DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO if you do not have a strong constitution.  This is what torture really is….
