At first bluss, when you hear the White House speak about Mexico and the gun traffic you get the feeling that America is a gun dealer for Mexico! With the POTUS saying he is sorry for America (yet again) for the trouble we are causing in Mexico (and the trouble we are causing the rest of the world), you start to wonder, WTF. Are we to believe that we (America) are the root cause for the worlds problems? That is for another blog that I will address at a later date, back to the subject at hand.
U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) have sent an urgent letter to the POTUS to address this dire issue. With Hillary also stating the same thing to reporters in press conferences that 90% of the guns seized in Mexico come from the U.S.. This is simply not true. Let’s take a look at the actual numbers.
According to the Mexican Attorney General, 29,000 guns were seized during 2007 and 2008. 11,000 of these guns were sent to the ATF for tracing. Why these 11,000? Because those were the guns that had probable U.S. origin. The other 18,000 guns were very obviously not from the U.S. (i.e. AK47 etc.). Now of those 11,000, 5100 were traced back to the U.S. (the U.S. tries to keep track of guns through serial numbers the other countries do not). Some if not most of these guns were stolen from the U.S. or bought through devious means (straw purchasers).
Let’s break down these numbers even further.
29,000 guns siezed from 2007 through 2008 = 100%
11,000 submitted to ATF for tracing = 38%
That leaves 18,000 guns from other countries = 62%
Of the 11,000 submitted 5100 were actually traced to the U.S.
Weed out the 5900 untraceable guns (filed serial numbers and other means to make them untraceable) of the 11,000 and you are left with 5100 guns traced back to the U.S. which comes to the grand total of …
17.6% of the guns seized in Mexico are from the U.S.!!!!
That is a far cry from the 90% the White House and Liberal Media would lead you to believe. The number of 90% comes from the 5100 of 5900 traced back to the U.S..
In a remarkable claim, Auturo Sarukhan, the Mexican ambassador to the U.S., said “Mexico seizes 2,000 guns a day from the United States — 730,000 a year. That’s a far cry from the official statistic from the Mexican attorney general’s office, which says Mexico seized 29,000 weapons in all of 2007 and 2008.”
These are flat out manipulations of numbers to proceed with their agenda. I have serious issues with the government only giving out partial info to back their claim about the gun/drug problem in the U.S. and Mexico, and I would hope that you agree. Stop the fear mongering and get on with the real problems.
Here’s an idea…If these numbers were actually true, that 90% of the guns going to Mexico are from the U.S., let’s help Mexico by building a wall on the border so it is more difficult for the U.S. to hurt the Mexican people with all our bad things going there! Now we know this won’t happen because, as we have seen these numbers simply aren’t true because if they were that would be a legitimate idea proposed not by the U.S. but by the Mexican government to protect their people.
There is a lot more to this then my small post but it is a glimps at the way numbers are manipulated for hidden agendas or various other reasons. Let’s be vigilant and keep an open mind and not just take what they are feeding you as fact. That is a road to ruin.
